What is PGA?

PGA(short for polyglycolic acid) is a kind of simple polyester, it has perfect biodegradable properties and biocompatibility, the final degraded products are glycolic acid, oxalic acid, carbon dioxide, and water, it was considered the complete fully biodegradable material. PGA has good mechanical performance, can safely be used as absorbable surgical sutures, drug-delivery carriers, fracture inner fixation composite rod, and tissue engineering scaffold, is one of the important medical biodegradable polymeric material.

PAG’S chemical formula is C2H2O2)n, its density is 1.530 g/cm3 (25 ?), melting point is around 225°C~230°C. molar mass is (58.04)n. PGA has a relatively higher crystallinity between 45%-55%, thus it is insoluble in water.
