What is PBAT?

PBAT (short for polybutylene adipate terephthalate), is a biodegradable thermoplastic and a copolymer of dibutyl adipate(C14H26O4) and polybutylene terephthalate, have both characteristics of PBA and PBT, have good ductility, elongation at break, heat resistance and impact property. Besides, it has good biodegradable properties, is the most popular research topic in biodegradable plastic, and one of the best biodegradable materials in the market application.

PBAT is a semi-crystalline polymer, its crystalline point is around 110°C and melting point around 130°C, have a density between 1.18g/ml~1.3g/ml. PBAT’s crystallinity is around 30% and its shore hardness above 85. PBAT Is a copolymer of aliphatics and aromatics, it combined the biodegradable properties of aliphatic polyesters and mechanical properties of aromatic polyester. The handling characteristics of PBAT are similar to LDPE, can be blown on the processing equipment of LDPE.
