What is PBS?

PBS polycondensates from succinic acid and butanediol, have a density of 1.26g/cm3 and melt poting of 114°C, crystallinity between 30%~45%.

PBS come into material research scope since the 1990s, and it swiftly becomes the general wide-used fully biodegradable research hot-topic, comparing with PCL, PHB, PHA, PBS have relatively lower cost, nice mechanical properties; comparing with PLA, PBS is relatively more convenient on processing, can be used on normal plastic processing methods. PBS has good heat resistant properties, its heat distortion temperature is above 100°C (PLA only has around 60°C). The synthetic material of PBS can come from petroleum resources also can come from through the fermentation of organic resources, thus it gained close attention from science and production societies.
